I know that some of you here are in the path of the storm. I'm a bit of a weather junkie, so I was wondering what conditions you are seeing in your neck of the woods. Also, please be safe. Winter storm are nothing to mess with.
It's been snowing since 7 a.m. here....very steady. Thankfully, there's no wind. In the last two hours the only vehicles that have driven by were snow plows. It looks like we've already got almost a foot of snow.
So far it's pretty much covered where I am (Long Island, New York) and we haven't even gotten to the worst part of the storm yet. Roads are horrendous and we're in a state of emergency.
It hasn't hit us in NS yet, but we are supposed to get it overnight. In total they are calling for 50cm for us (~20"), its not like we haven't had that much snow before, but people here are freaking out about it all. 9 years ago we had ~90-100 cm fall in a night. That was bad.
Its rare, we had one 9 years ago that they called the "white Juan" after we were hit by hurricane Juan
They just started to name the storms again this winter. They used to name the storms a long time ago, but then they stopped. Here is the article that talks about it.
This is first one I remember ever hearing...I found it quite odd. And Nemo....interesting name choice...now my facebook feed is all filled with weather maps with Nemo and several Nemo memes with Boston accents
Same here. It's getting a little obnoxious. We haven't gotten much snow here yet. Maybe three or four inches. It's still coming down pretty hard, and it's wicked windy. I'm amazed the power hasn't gone out yet.
I feel like this storm is named after "Finding Nemo"... I guess that Nemo wasn't that hard to find after all.
It's been snowing steady here (south central Mass) since 7 am....we have at least a foot already. But we haven't had any wind....thank god....that's when I usually lose power.
