My family was invited to the premier of it here in Syndey, though I just tore up the invite in the courier's face. I saw Borat, and that itself was enough. Thus my decision is final, it is demeaning.

I don't find it demeaning, but I won't go see it, I find them stupid and a waste of time.

It doesn't look that good, but it's not exactly insulting.

    It's not demeaning at all.

    I think it's a good thing.

He's showing how preposterous the stereotypes are.

I can't wait for it. Me and my dad are going to see this movie when it comes out; we went to see Borat and we laughed our asses off.

Personally, regarding the whole "this is demeaning etc" argument for this movie, I go by the quote "just because you make fun of something doesn't mean you don't care about it". That's all really.

    I don't think its demeaning.

I'll probably go watch it, unwillingly, cuz my best friend won't shut up about it. I seen Borat, and it was midly funny, hopefully this one is better.

I want to see it. It looks like fun, stereotypical, but that's the point of course. It's spoofing homophobes really, not gays, so I think peeps need to calm themselves and just watch for entertainment.

ICH KANN NICHT WAIT FÜR DAS MOVIE TO AUSKOMMEN!

Seriously, it looks absolutely hilarious. I've seen almost every single Ali G show, and Brüno is SO FUNNY (In... oder aus? In, aus, in, aus, in aus lol). My friends and I have been planning on seeing it together since last summer. Unfortunately, it got delayed from May to July and now we're all scattered all over the state so we can't see it together. Oh well, I'll have a blast. I saw The Hangover last night (highly recommended, by the way), and they played the trailer for Brüno.

(Yes, I speak German just fine... I'm typing Denglish on purpose)

How can anyone not be excited for this:

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I personally don't care. You can't let stuff like that heat you up like that. It's just a movie. Every movie will upset a certain group of people.
    It'll blow over eventually.

Well, about Borat I think the meanest thing I can say is that I didn't find it funny (which, when talking about a comedy, is very nasty indeed). There is comedy in the awkwardness of the people he interacts with, but awkwardness has been done better elsewhere.

So I think I'll pass on this one. I wouldn't call it demeaning to gay people, though. Something is only demeaning if you let yourself be demeaned.

It depends what you're going for. If you want an LGBT friendly hour of rainbow diversity that'll promote Serious Issues and make people really think about homophobia, you're swinging for a miss.

If you want a (slightly) ironic, tongue in cheek slapstick/physical comedy that's mature enough to laugh at itself as well as homophobic people, then you're on the right sort of track.

With regards to Borat, I liked it. The premise was good, it was hilarious and pure comedy. I did think they went a little too far with the physical comedy, and that sacrificed a little bit too much of the ironic part. But still, it's nice to have a movie where you don't really think all that much.

Since I'm a big fan of freedom of speech, I'm all for it. Even if it's not an accurate representation, if it brings people to a theater, that is still a sign that gay is becoming more acceptable mainstream than it has been. The worst that can happen is that he comes off as any other hairdresser/fashionista type you see on most other movies with a token gay character anyway.
