There was a gang in Mexico beating up emo kids at a My Chemical Romance show.

    Just you know, btw.

I'm feeling very emotive hardcore today.
I guess that the kids in the "emo scene" don't really know their stuff anymore anyway. (not a personal attack, don't wanna get yelled at). The emo scene began with SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE. But who knows of them? Me. Not too many others though. Especially not the MCR/FOB emos.

    Some think so, some don't.
    Depends on who you ask.
The "true emos" think MCR/FOB are "posers".

Basically just an offshoot of punk.

    Truetruetrue.
But past all else... I don't know if I can take emo kids seriously if they don't know their roots (mainly Sunny Day Real Estate, Jimmy Eat World, old Weezer, Fugazi (kind of), and forms of classic rock.)
Emo means about 7000 things today. No changing that.

Yes, they're all just offshoots of Punk.
    Specifically pop punk.
Modernday emo = pop punk, as far as I'm concerned...

Kurdt wins, yes. I'll agree on that point.

But anyway, every group of people is going to experience hard times and such, and there will always be someone that doesn't like them.

If you're looking for a full on emo support group (/social networking for emos) check out emoearth.com but I guess on EC we all love each other (mostly) enough to be able to tell each other when we're being overly anything. Such as, "Dude... You're SO GAY" or, "You're being quite emo at this very moment." It's just a thing that happens. Maybe.

I reckon emo is a mood. I mean, it might not technically be, but I still consider it to be. Some days I wake up, feel sad, decide to wear clothes that are stereotypically emo.

The way I dress generally reflects the way I feel, so if I wear all black and emo clothes, I'd say I'm feeling emo. But that's just me. If I wear pink and girly clothes I'll say I'm feeling pink and girly

So, therefore, in my opinion emo should remain

Orange is a fruit. It is also a colour

One word can mean more than one thing. The two meanings can even be related. In this way, emo can be both a lifestyle and a mood.

    :bang::bang:
This is crazy, 3 pages talking about an 'offensive' mood??
    Puh-lease...

If you're emo you can keep it as long as you want or if you feel like complaning about unimportant topics you can just leave it on for a day or two
