So I moved to this small country called Belgium last year. I've realized now that it is quite famous for these four basic food groups. So my question to you all is: What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? What do you put on your Waffles? What is your favorite Beer? And of course if you are not of the legal age for beer, just imagine what your favorite beer would be
I love Belgium! So, my favourite chocolate is Godiva Chocolate Truffles. I put ketchup or mayo on mah fries, and syrup or jam/berries on my waffles, and I don't like beer all that much, so I can't say a particular brand.
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? We have big packs of chocolates here in Blighty called Celebrations (I have no idea if the US has them or not :lol and they're just a big selection box of little wrapped chocolates. And my favourite is the truffle. I'm always pissed if someone steals all the truffles, even though I do that They are the best. What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Ketchup, obviously, in large amounts. I technically like brown sauce better, but brown sauce doesn't go with chips, so it's ketchup. What do you put on your Waffles? Chocolate spread and it goes all melty and gooey if the waffle's warm. What is your favorite Beer? The Wifebeater (Stella Artois). And Strongbow
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? Dark chocolate. Very dark chocolate. I like it when it's packed with almost too much flavour, it sets off a disco in my mouth. What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Cheese of course! and if there's no cheese, brown sauce. And if there's no brown sauce, vinegar. And if there's no vinegar, ketchup. And if there's no ketchup, I really need to go shopping. What do you put on your Waffles? Waffles? Hm. I honestly don't think I've ever had waffles. I know what they are though. What is your favorite Beer? Hm I'll drink beer but I don't really think it is that nice. Beer is nothing in comparison to cider.
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? Green and Black's 70% Dark. GET IN MAH BELLEH! What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Curry sauce. What do you put on your Waffles? Caramel and walnuts. What is your favorite Beer?
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? I like all chocolate but my favourite has to be Mars, Snickers or Peanut Butter Kit Kat What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? I disagree with anyone who says that brown sauce does not go well with chips There's also this American diner in West London called Ed's and they do the most amazing Chili Fries What do you put on your Waffles? Nutella and icing sugar. YUM! What is your favorite Beer? I don't really like beer
OMG, how could you forget mussels?? They're like the national food of Belgium along with fries. Both are served in bucket sized containers
Oh, I know. Moules and frites are heaven But the mussels actually come from Holland, or so I've been told. And I wasn't sure how many people had even eaten mussels, much less how they like them served
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? I love dark chocolate. Then sipping on some coffee and letting it melt the chocolate off your tongue. Yummy. What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Cheese and gravy, or ketchup. What do you put on your Waffles? I usually never have waffles but I guess I'd have to say butter and maple syrup. What is your favorite Beer? This one is a toughy. It's a toss-up between Bell's Expedition Stout and Rochefort 10. Both really big flavourful beers with very different flavour profiles. I guess since this thread is inspired by your experience in Belgium I'll go for the Rochefort.
Côte d'Or Mayonnaise Icing sugar Kriek for flavour, Jupiler for cheap-ness (I tried alcohol but I don't really like it. I haven't had any since last May and I figure that I can have enough fun without it. And most of my friends drink and I love being different so it's all good.) I guess me spending a year in Belgium may have influenced my choices here a bit
Geez a great site for someone like me who has to stay away from.......ah piss on it, I wonder what's in the fridge......
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? Homemade truffles by a long stretch, oh my gawd. What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Normally nothing, but gravy if I must. What do you put on your Waffles? Macadamias, mango, maple syrup and homemade vanilla icecream What is your favorite Beer? Corona!!!! P.S What the heck is brown sauce?!
What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? Not really too into chocolate. UNLESS it's Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. OMG! THE BEST!! What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Malt vinegar or cheese. Or there's a place here in Sacramento called Jack's Urban Eats, they make wicked cool "Urban Fries", topped with little bacon slivers, ranch dressing, and chili oil!! Yummmmy! What do you put on your Waffles? Traditionalist here, good ol' butter and maple syrup. What is your favorite Beer? Corona with a lime or Blue Moon with an orange And I also must ask: what the heck is brown sauce???:help:
I've been to Jack's!! Haven't had that though. Now for my Belgian answers... What is your favorite Chocolate (type or brand)? Galler Milk Chocolate What do you put on your French Fries/Chips? Stoofvlees (a sorta beef stew) topped with mayonnaise What do you put on your Waffles? Chocolate spread and banana What is your favorite Beer?
As a Belgian, I'm honor bound to answer this thread! Favourite Chocolate I eat loads and loads of Côte d'Or, all varieties. Mostly the darker kind, 70% pure or above. Or the ones with raspberry. What to put on fries Mayonnaise, no question. And if you include meats to go with fries, I like américan préparé (raw minced meat with capers, onions, and lots of spices, and it's not as horrible as it sounds :lol Waffles I don't like the light and fluffy kind. I mainly go for the Liégois variety, which have little lumps of sugar inside and are quite heavy already, so they don't need topping. If I want anything on it, it would be chocolate and banana though. Beer Now comes the part in which my fellow Belgians kick in the door and beat me up... I don't like beer. At all. Mostly my co-workers put Leffe in front of me, or Brugse Zot (a local beer). Which I diligently drink, though I would never order a glass of beer when I'm alone.
