    That's too high. They should be around 18 pixels high and that one is 27 pixels. :frowning2:

    I printscreen already made moods. I fill in the background, I find a smiley and add words. All on paint. Although, mine look grainy compared to the others. Damn paint....

    You're saving them as GIF XD, Save them as PNG, the way Paul converts them to GIF is a lot different then the way that Paint does it. Paint sucks the color out of GIFs >_<

    Yep, that'd solve your problems!

    Don't sell paint short! I've gotten into editing pictures over the past few years, and forget Photoshop, MS Paint's magnifying glass is all you really need! ^^ Of course, pixel-by-pixel alterations tend to take an eternity, but they also have the side effect of giving you 100% control over your work ^^

    I start with an existing one, find a bit in the middle that has no smilie or text and stretch that to cover everything up to the ends.

    Yep, that's what I do too, but using PhotoShop Elements.

    PhotoShop Elements handles that well. It has a Save for Web feature which lets you tweak how it will be done and shows you a preview. GIFs can have no more than 256 colours and the software will optimise these colours to suit the image. Something more basic like Paint will just use the default colours.

    If you want something free for saving to GIF, try IrfanView. I have just opened a JPG file of my avatar in that and saved it as a GIF file, and it looks very good. See attached. www.irfanview.com
