I wish I could help, but I'm kinda in the same boat. ...it's like...you forget the one word that makes it funny just befor you say it.
Pratice speaking in your spare time? I honestly don't know what to suggest, i've never stuttered before.
i sometimes stutter when i'm talking too fast or when i get distracted in the middle of a sentence. when i get distracted i sometimes tend to repeat the word i was saying like a broken record. i just need to make a conscious effort to stop and it does, so i don't kno what to tell u. have u ever gone to a speech therapist? i know a few people who went to one when they were younger for stuttering.
I dunno if I really stutter but sometimes I do stutter around people I don't know well, barely though, which is a problem... sorry I don't really know what to do? Maybe practice speaking like somebody said.
I'm sorry that I can't give any concrete advice on this, but I would really recommend going to a speech therapist if it is giving you heaps of trouble. I'm not sure if you would recognise the name Gareth Gates (possibly ppl in UK would cos I think he came 2nd in the original Pop Idol) but he had a terrible stutter, but because he went to a speech therapist it was not too noticeable. I think they give you excercise to do, and solutions if you are having trouble saying a particular word Anyway, hope it helped
A guy I used to work with had a bad stuttering problem. He was able to mostly control it, but occasionally he'd have some trouble, so what he would do is just stop and take a moment to compose himself and think about what hewas saying. When he was ready, he would begin speaking again. It seemed to work ok for him.
i stutter also really bad!!! i have speech problems and cant read very well and writeing is hard for me to. my mum and dad took me to a few doctors but they think i have dyslexia but some doctors say no its not that. i find school very hard and have to repeat 11th grade again next year but want to finish high school so i can get a good job. i get teased about my stutter and other things to and some times i nearly cry. im better than i use to be i use to cry a bit but not as much now. my younger brother william also goes to high school with me now and looks after me on the bus etc etc.
If you haven't gone to a speech therapist I suggest you do that. You're pretty young and the sooner you start the better chances you have at improving you're stutters. I have a mild case of stutters, so i doubt my story would help you, but u should go 2 a speech therapist I did as a little kid and it really helped me.
Well I know this sounds a little bad but my sister had a BF who stuttered and we always used to make him sing "row row row your boat..." It not that we were making fun of him but it sounded funny because he couldnt do it. Turns out that we actually helped him. He only stutters ever so often, which isnt that often actually. I dont know...lol Try it? Speech classes would work fine too.
On the topic of writing, I should prolly' note that my Handwriting is simply horribal. Actuly, at my school, they have issued me a small keyboard to type my assignments rather than write them with my hand.
dont make it a focus point, its like, i have a moving problem, but the more you concentrate on keeping still the more you actually move. just try to relax, be confident, and take your time. i would also recommend reading dr.seuss out loud. if you can do that with out stuttering, you can do ANYTHING lol. if it is really really bad, then yes, definitally find a speech specialist.
I have a bit of a stutter, particularly when I'm in the middle of a speech or when I'm on a big rant or spiel to somebody. I also stutter quite a bit when I'm just talking normally. One thing that I never stutter while doing though is singing. Singing really helps me. Also I like Ebra's comment about Dr. Suess. It actually kinda works.
I actually have a stuttering problem too. I suggest going to a person to help with your speech. I had to go to a speech teacher through all of elementary school to help me.
