What books would you recommend to read about transgenderism? These can be nonfiction books but fiction books are also welcome thank you
I am uncomfortable with it being expressed that way. (~ISM) It sounds to me like being someone who is gender variant is a philosophy like capitalism, socialism etc. I would prefer talking about books that include people or characters who transition or who identify as trans or transgender. As far as actual books when I started I read autobiographies like - Jorgensen, Christine. (1967). Christine Jorgensen: A personal autobiography. Which is probably a bit old for people today.
I like "Sorted: A Transgender Memoir" by Jackson Bird. It's an autobiography by a trans guy who's a YouTube star. For fiction, I recommend "If I was your girl by Meredith Russo. The story of a trans teen girl as she struggles through high school in the conservative southern U.S. where everyone thinks she's a cis girl.
These are both fiction: Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas - Yadriel, a gay trans Latinx boy, struggles to fit in with the brujx community he was raised in. Dreadnought by April Daniels - A trans girl is given legendary superpowers after she witnesses the death of a superhero.
A really good one I read was Beyond Magenta, it was about a bunch of trans people and their life. 10/10
