So a priest gets fired for defending human rights, but a priest who owns child porn gets protected. What the fuck?

Agreed. Humanity still has quite a way to go, it seems. Every time I have hope I'm yanked back to reality.

It is a TRUE Christian's duty to stand by those who want pure, selfless love. He should not have been fired, because he was doing what is right. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

    "Confusing the Faithful", hmm?
More like "interrupting our indoctrination of our ideas in the minds of the young without anyone to challenge their ideas whatsoever".

Go on. Protect Child Molesters and fire ones that protect human rights. See if anyone takes you seriously...

    Oh wait. People do. :bang:
I hate people sometimes. We can be so stupid.

From my education as a catholic, and from my understanding of what the priest did, I don't think the priest actually broke any church rules. Pope Francis himself said that we need to accept everyone, despite sexual preferences, and that we shouldn't isolate people. The priest hasn't married two gay people or taught teachings contrary to Church teachings, as far as I know.

Also, as a catholic, I'd like to say that that bishop doesn't represent all Catholics. There are a lot of Catholics out there. I've met Catholics that think homosexuality is a mental illness and I've met Catholics that think that gay marriage should be considered a sacrament. Some Catholics think sneezing loudly is a sin, but a lot of Catholics aren't angry, self-righteous people who judge everyone every second of the day. We're normal people. We're no better or worse than the baptists or Lutherans or Jews or whoever. It's just that we're so large that even with a majority, change can't be made quickly. We're also not a democracy, and that doesn't help.

Most of the Catholics you hear about on the news are the loud, angry, sometimes horrible ones. But there are a lot of good, nice Catholics out there that actually pay attention to the Catholic Social Teachings instead of fears and personal agendas and ignorance.
