Been referring to myself more and more as a female/girl/woman and damn doesn't feel so freeing to acknowledge my true self after all this time. Also I've been changing my pronouns on the few Social Media profiles I do have.

Here's another small victory that I've noticed about myself.... In an effort to present more femme, I've actually stopped my nervous habit of biting my fingernails down to nubs as much and are letting them grow out! Holy f#%! I actually did it....

My most recent little victories are coming out to my daughter and her husband, going out in broad daylight ALONE! Also making an appointment with a speech therapist to work on my voice (biggest stumbling block) and a surgeon who can maybe alter my voice. Also saw an endocrinologist a few times and her prescribing HRT drugs is 1 e-mail away.

I came out to my piano teacher a few weeks ago, it sounds weird that its my piano teacher but were pretty close and she offers good advice. We got to the conversation of trangender people and she asked my opinion and how i want to be seen, so i told her. Her reaction was good, i know she has lots of lgbtq students and she has questioned herself too, but its still very nice to see how supportive she is. I talked about how i found out and my identity and things i noticed, it was awesome being able to say it out loud. And she listened and asked questions. She thinks i should come out to my parents and join a gsa club at school. But tbh i just wanna be seen as a dude, im not too interested in joning the gsa and i dont know if my parents would react well.

long message but its cool she knows that about me now

it was easier than a coming out to a parent, she is another adult in my life though and she has started conversations about it before. she asked me a question and i replied and told my experience. it was nerve wracking because i havent come out to an adult before but i think she was curious and wanted to know more. at first i regretted coming out to her but on the other hand, its nice that someone knows how i really feel.
i think coming out to anyone is very difficult. i think it was easier for me because she set up a more supportive environment.

The grandfather of the kid I babysit for asked if I was "one of the boys next door who [his grandkid] was always bothering"
I wasn't even wearing a binder, but I guess the short haircut was enough lmao.

Another thing that's less positive is when I go into the girl's bathroom at school (religious private school; tldr im closeted) is that the smaller children will stare in shock at me, a short-hairer, being in the same bathroom as them. Yay because I pass to small children, nay because I cause them discomfort :frowning2:

Today I realised that this classmate of mine from uni (different groups but we share some classes. We have hardly interacted) thinks I'm a cis guy. The professor asked who would like to make a presentation next time and we both spoke up at the same time, and she went 'do you want to be the first one to present?' ('the first one' translated in my language is gendered, and she used the masculine form). I have never spoken to this girl more than a few words during smoking breaks. I don't think she would've gendered me correctly had she suspected I'm trans, because it was in front of the entire class and the professor. We've been colleagues for over a year. She's thought I'm cis for over a year!!!

I then panicked because I didn't want to say my full birthname so I stammered '[Surname] [Unisex Nickname]'

It feels surreal knowing this person probably thinks I'm a cis guy. Hilarious too, considering I keep telling myself I never pass and suddenly this happens

I'm wearing this long-sleeved dress-sweater thing and female underwear just in my house and I don't feel any shame in it.

Yesterday I went into the department store, because of my psychologist assignment to go and try on mens clothes and I overcame my anxiety and actually tried the clothes on and it actually felt really great and took away all the doubts I still had. I took the pics too in front of a mirror. I now feel like I'm making progress.
