What songs tear you up (in either sense of the word "tear")? For me, sometimes it is a line in the song but other times, the music. Sometimes I don't know exactly why I react so emotionally to a song.

Troye Sivan & Gordi - Wait (from the Motion Picture ‘Three Months’)

These lines tear me up (as in tears in my eyes):

    "What I used to know
    I don’t know
    Keeps spinning me out
    I lose control"

    ===========================================================
This one tears me up (as in gets me emotional):

    Gotye - Save Me

The song is true for me and my partner:

    "And you gave me love
When I could not love myself.
    And you made me turn
From the way I saw myself.
    And you're patient, love,
And you help me help myself.
    And you save me..."

    ================================================
    How about you?

Mainly this one, the song is about Paul McCartney's mother who died in the 1950's.

I love Troye, but haven't heard that one yet. I'll have to listen.

One song that really tears me up inside is Remember Me from the movie Coco, idk why, It just makes me bawl like a newborn baby every time I recall the context of the song xD

Laurie Anderson - O Superman. Every - single - time. I just turn into a weeping blubbering wreck.

I was 11 when I first heard it in my dimly-lit bedroom, late night on the John Peel show in April 1981. At first I was scared of it, yet I was utterly utterly transfixed. I cannot have been alone as later that year it reached Number Two in the UK charts. Possibly the most unlikely Top Ten hit of its (or any?) era...

Killing In The Name by Rage Against The Machine

Sometimes the last part, "F you, I won't do what you tell me..." gets me emotional to tears of sadness, anger, rage against all the lies against us, telling us to conform, even when you do what they told you you get beat down so F you, I won't do what you tell me!! Sing it loud and let out your anger

The song is about all the hate, racism and prejudice in all of the armed forces, police brutality, Rodney King and the LA riots, basically the entire US history of destroying others with government approval. It should be part of US history classes and is epic essay material. In 1992, I wasn't a fan of the music and didn't get it, but came around a little later. Especially after realizing I was gay and subject to systemic oppression myself.

Regina Spektor-two birds on a wire
This song is about two queer people, one choosing to come out and except themself, the other staying in the closet.
The way this song ends without really finishing just breaks my heart

This question isn't too hard at all. This song is both beautiful and difficult.

I looked it up. It was a movie! What a weird plot.

I will have to watch it. My list keeps getting longer and longer.

The movie came to my mind first when I heard the song again. I like the movie, but now I got us all off topic lol

Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space by Spritualized

This one seems like a good song to end a funeral with lyrics on a screen bc they're super quiet at the beginning. Like it says, "All I want in life's a little bit of love to take the pain away. Getting strong today, a giant step each day."

I was listening to Visiting Hours by Ed Sheeran earlier. I had to try hard not to cry at that one. I try not to listen to songs that make me cry.

The Village by Wrabel always gets to me. It's about a trans man who is misunderstood and unaccepted by everyone around him.

Seventeen from Heathers the Musical (original cast). The harmonies as well as the pure emotion behind the lyrics- if I ever got the blessing of seeing Heathers in person, I would most definitely be crying during this one.

This song by Aimer gets me in the feels:

"Just Say Goodbye" vocals: Aimer/Music: Sawano Hiroyuki
This song reminds me a lot of my relationship of my mom.
