I am currently living in a country other than the one that I am a citizen of. I moved here originally to marry someone and that turned out to be a bad idea. After the end of that marriage I applied to still stay in this country as I refuse to live in my nation of origin. Today I got a call from the police station to come down tomorrow because they need to tell me what the determination was, they cannot tell me over the phone. When I got the positive determination before they just sent a text and then a letter. I told the calling officer that from what had been said I was pretty sure of the answer and he responded that I could always appeal. My boyfriend is away on business (his mom died recently), he is going to cut short his trip and return tonight so that he can go with me tomorrow. I may be in custody after midday tomorrow.

I’m sorry to hear that, @QuietPeace. I can’t imagine what’s on your mind right now.

I don’t have the knowledge to suggest anything that might be even remotely useful, but I’m glad that you won’t have to attend the meeting alone and I hope it’s not as bad as it appears.

I am back home now. My boyfriend went with me so I did not hyperventilate too bad. They did reject my application but at the same time said that I can appeal and there is even an appeal process beyond that. I have the appeal papers and my boyfriend is going to help me find an attorney who will help. The appeal process might even take a year so no matter what I get to live someplace that I really love for at least one more year.

I hope things eventually turn out so that you can remain where you are happy. This must be such a worry and stress for you.

Thank you. I am actually not looking for happiness, I gave up on that a while ago. All I am actually looking for is a place where I can feel safe and maybe content. The process is stressful but what I decided a while back was that I will live here for the rest of my life (whether that means a long time or only until they say I have to leave) and that during this time I am safe and other than the fear of the department deciding that my time is up I am pretty much content.

Feeling safe is priority isn’t it? I moved away from a very unsafe area and it was one of the best things I ever did. I’d lived in that unsafe area since I was born and crime was going worse and worse.

Good luck, I sincerely wish the best for you.

Ongoing saga. Got to talk to a low cost attorney today (it was who I was referred to by the city agency for immigrants), she says that there is really no chance of me winning the appeal. That she will file since I insist but after the 4 to 8 months that it will take I will have to leave. I had a meltdown, screamed at her and the translator while my boyfriend tried to intervene. She finally said that if he and I got married that I could then apply to stay due to being married. After we hung up he, in tears, asked me to marry him. We then started looking for a place to move into together. I feel as if I am nothing but a curse on everyone who meets me. He told me that thursday he is going to help me to find a private licensed attorney who will hopefully work harder at keeping me in the country.

You're definitely not a curse on everyone who meets you. Life itself can be a curse at times.

What a tough day you’ve had. No wonder you’ve been upset. I sincerely hope that this issue gets resolved soon.

You have a wonderful boyfriend who loves you there. Very supportive.

    Hugs to you

Update. We saw the private attorney yesterday to give him power of attorney. He had read everything that I had previously submitted. He says that I actually do have a chance and quoted some case law on it. The other attorney just told me to appeal but refused to help me with what to say and also said I had zero chance. This one is going to write up what I need to say. It is going to end up costing me about 750€, a cheap price to save my life. I will submit it next week and we will also get married and also apply for me to stay on that, hopefully one or the other will allow me to stay.
