    Has anyone watched The One?

Would you take the DNA matching test if it was available?

    Yes. And no.
And I’m hoping the bisexual detective becomes the protagonist going forward.

Yes. I was going to say something about one one of the other characters, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone still watching.

No, I wouldn’t take test. It doesn’t guarantee a plain sailing relationship!

I had to look it up only based on what is implied about its premise in this discussion.

Watch? no with the found description it is a definite miss (I do not have netflix but my boyfriend does), I would rather watch Star Trek for the 50th time or just read another book on my own list.

    Take the test? No,
1 ) Just because someone has perfect genetics (ha, there is no such thing as perfect) does not mean that they would be someone that I could get along with, there are so many things that go into compatibility.
2 ) There is no such thing as the ONE perfect person for anyone. Relationships are built by people working together not by "perfect" situations. So far in my life those people who I was most drawn to immediately turned out to be the worst things for me.

I read the premise of the show. I wouldn’t take a DNA test that claimed to find my perfect match. What about attraction, shared interests and personalities? What if your perfect match gave up waiting for their match to get the test and ended up marrying someone else. I don’t think genetics can determine love. I’d care about genetics if I was looking for a sperm donor but not for the one. I also don’t believe there is only one person out there. I believe that everyone has several possible ones and circumstances determine which one you’ll actually end up with.

I wouldn’t take the test because I believe connections are mainly to do with the soul.

God help anyone who has the same genetics as me anyway :joy:

Ooooooohhhh I’m about to start watching this with my sister. Might give it a go tomorrow... I get very “Black Mirror” vibes from the trailer. Is it any good? :grinning:

It depends. If I was in healthy love relationship then no, I would see no point. But if I was lonely, if failed relationships were bringing me down..then yes, most likely I would.

Started watching! 3 episodes in. I’m not sure if I’m here for the storyline or the actresses. Either way I’m LOVING IT! Also, the DNA matching thing doesn’t seem to bode well for many in this so far so I’m not sure if I’d go for it. :joy:

    I’m up to episode 6! I love it! I love Kate’s story.
