    So. Kanye West. Born in Chicago Illinois USA and his music style of hip hop/rap which was born in New York city are deemed "not traditionally American" to play at the inauguration but country music is?

    While I wouldn't give trump the time of day, this is what the trump team says about a supposed friend of his. If this isn't a perfect case of implicit bias racism I don't know what is.

    And as a Caucasian person, I'd rather watch Kanye than a country artist. Oh wait. I'm not American enough because of that statement. Add that to my list of "crimes" of being an agnostic bisexual trans woman with an education.

    The real conundrum here is that Trump is not "traditionally American" at all. The "traditional American" should probably care about most American people which clearly he doesn't.

    Kanye's music can be good. Country music can be good. Anyone who performs at Trump's inauguration is going out of their way to ruin their career.

    A real president would bring in indies to their inaugeration concert. Actual people who love their craft and are actual people . Sadly , presidents only care about the best of the best / 1 percent .

    They should perform traditional Italian opera at inaugurations, "Rigoletto" or "La Traviata" maybe... Even the most extreme rap has nothing on opera.

    High culture: pop culture that's no longer relevant.

    Pop culture: marginal culture that's no longer shocking.

    And don't even get started on who invented what in music.

    Good point @Some Dude. And yes I do have a problem with "Traditional American" = White because that's a racist sentiment that many people do hold (all signs point to Trump).
