Sorry to hear. My parents are very supportive and love hearing about my stories and characters- I'm sorry you don't have the same experience! Some people just such. It's great you had some fans though. Having a LITTLE bit of support can go a long way.

I think NaNoWriMo is a great idea and have been wanting to participate for some time. Just have to get off my lazy ass. Lol.

On the topic of LGBT, I have LGBT characters in my first story (a relationship between two women- a bi woman and a lesbian), but I don't have anything LGBT related in my second story (though to be fair, there's nothing straight related either, I just didn't want to write anything romantic in that way). But the main genre of my first story isn't even romance...It's mostly about drama and mental illness. Relationship development is just a side effect.

I tried NaNoWro last year but didn't pace myself correctly. I started late then stayed up all night writing to make up for it. But then I got burnout and never finished the story.

I have a lot of stories, but have trouble getting them organized. I usually write individual scenes rather than a whole story.

I write sci-fi fantasy... My main character in the story I'm writing now is a teenage girl (17) just discovering that she's bisexual and ... a witch. Hmmm sounds familiar.

Which agents did you submit to? I can't even find 15 agents let alone 100!

So many. The next time you're looking to submit try Querytracker (a searchable database of agents) and Manuscript Wish List (a place for agents to share what they're looking for but by no means an exclusive list).

Hey guys, I need some feedback on my story. I am writing a radio drama and I need a subplot.

A young Haitian man turns up on the beach owned by the parents of a young Jamaican teenage girl who finds him in a really bad shape and nurses him back to health. At the outset the young Haitian man is desperate to find his brother who also made the journey along with him in a small dingy boat. The boat collapsed into the water and the it is unclear whether he drowned like so many others or was able to find himself to shore.

    Act 1

Scene 1: Love at first sight. Young Haitian boy wakes up to being nursed by young Jamaican girl (Inciting Incident). She realizes he is not from around here as he speaks limited English – the French she has learned in high school comes in real handy here. She gives him clothes, food etc before he leaves.

Scene 2: Police Chief (Antagonist) warns young Jamaican girl to keep an eye out for unknown people wandering around the community and report any suspicious new people she sees wandering around to the police. Haitians bring disease, could be murderers etc.

Scene 3: Police Chief has been called after dead bodies have washed up on the beach. Young Haitian boy watches from afar; thinks one of the corpses could be his brother´s.

Scene 4: Young Haitian enlists help from young Jamaican girl who had told him earlier that she works part time at the morgue. He wants to find out if his brother is one of the dead. Turns out it is not his brother.

Scene 5: Young Haitian receives the clearest sign yet that his brother is alive, and he is determined to find him (Plot Point 1)

    Act 2A

Scene 6: First contact between Police Chief and Young Haitian boy. Police Chief suspects young Haitian boy is not from around here and might be an illegal Haitian immigrant.

Did you submit to New Leaf Literary? Or Curtis Brown Ltd.?

Well I had a friend read the first seven chapters of my novel. She said she was impressed, it was good and she couldn't wait to read the next part. It made me feel quite pleased. It's just a shame that I'm suffering from a writer's block at the moment and struggling with chapter nine.

Yes, both. When Nathan Bransford was at Curtis Brown, he was my dream agent. Most of my querying happened before New Leaf opened but I'd be delighted to be represented by one of their agents.

Cool, what is your book about? Sometimes looking over old notes or remembering the original inspiration can help with writer's block.

Its about a cross dresser whose alter ego eventually comes out more to the point of taking him over so its a kind of what makes us who we are type of story. There is also another plot where my character working as a singer in a club ends up stealing a load of money from the boss who turns out to be a bit of a gangster. They uncovers facts that he murdered someone but is stuck going to the police not only because of the money but also fear of being found out.

A princess snatched by a dragon doesn't want to sit around and wait for a prince to rescue her. She fights to convince the other captive princesses that they need to find a way out on their own.

So it's like a fantasy-type novel? How many words is it?
Also, does anyone have any good sources for finding comparative titles? Goodreads is one, but it would be nice to find a source that lists how much profit a book made.

That sounds really action-packed. Did you have to do a lot of research on gangs and crime?

I haven't really although up to now I haven't focused to much on that part. Just getting to write about it now so will have to do a bit.
